As a Venja Faceless, you have chosen your own penjaden. This emblem is your bloodsign, your seal, your power, and your gift. Those that have earned your trust shall bear it and those who have crossed you shall fear it. Born with your own blood in the flesh of another, freely given, your power shall grow and your faceless shadow shall fall long and hidden among the masses, for the dark will always keep the dark, so long as there is blood to feed it.
To each of our Faceless, a Triajese set is given with which to seal your pledged and begin building your power. Your set includes the following:

Handcrafted by Sah Keene, the needle tool is comprised of finely hewn albatross bone hafted onto a hand-carved wooden handle. The needle tool is struck into the flesh with a lightweight mallet of clay and brass. Faceless may replace the needle’s handle with one of their own ornate design at their choosing, though the sharpened albatross bone must remain of the Sah’s craftsmanship for the Triajese magic to seal the penjaden.

A large stoppered vial contains the Triajese pigment prepared by Sah Khethys. The dark liquid is made from burnt ash timbers, soot from burnt gum resin mixed with fat, black lotus, and serpent vecatim. A separate ink well is provided for the mixture of the Triajese pigment and your own blood.

As the application of the penjaden can be excruciatingly painful for the hireling, the Ashavenja’s Nectar should be given to them beforehand to dull their senses and bring their flesh into your thrall. The sweet yellow substance is spiced with clove alcohol, dove brain, and blue Zingaran sugars. The primary ingredient which serves as the base of the nectar and must remain a secret to the Hireling is colostrum coaxed from the breast of the Ashavenja’s succubus.

Your penjaden should not be given to a Hireling lightly. It is the seal by which you are identified and those bearing your mark come with your recommendation to the Triajah that they be brought into the Venja crime family. Only after they have proven themselves to you as a trusted henchman, working for you on several jobs, spilling blood in the name of Venja, and placing wealth in your own pockets, should you blood them with your penjaden.
The blood tattoo is sacred and powerful, the magic of which links back to the same dark presence you sensed during your Blood Taking on the hill with the Ashavenja. While you do not fully understand it yet, you know that something powerful and unseen lies in the depths of Mihada, and the pentatrine tattooed on your forearm links you to it and makes the blood connection real. In so giving a Hireling your penjaden to form the foundation of their future pentatrine, you are also furthering your own power -- or diminishing it, should you give it to someone who proves unworthy. Increasing your influence over Mihada in this way is the first step to becoming Seshem with Faceless enforcers of your own. These Hirelings are yours to use and test as instruments of your own hand. Wield them and send us the worthy.
||OOC: Call upon Hirelings to get to know them in-character, sending them on roleplay jobs of your own design. If you have game mastering experience and enjoy running interactive roleplay sessions, this gives you an opportunity to orchestrate jobs for the Hireling with the only limitation being your imagination. Feel free to create alts to use as NPCs and villains in your job's miniature story arc, being mindful of your Hireling's level as far as locations and objectives you choose.
Depending on how detailed you make these, a Hireling should complete 1-2 'jobs' for you before you give them your penjaden. However, you are not obligated to give them your penjaden if you get bad vibes from them and do not deem them to be a good fit for the cartel. After all, your penjaden in their flesh is your seal of approval.||
||OOC: To give a Hireling a tattoo of your emblem is to 'blood your penjaden'. It is given on the outer forearm, as shown. The blooding of the penjaden should involve a private roleplay scene with the Hireling wherein you use the Triajese set to give them their tattoo. In essence you will be introducing them to Venja through this roleplay and shared experience.
Once this is done, create a thread in the Chamber of the Unseen entitled Hireling <Hireling's Name>, reporting to the Triajah in character with a brief summary of the jobs you gave your Hireling, any comments you have about the individual, and then denote whether or not you gave them your penjaden. If a thread has already been created for your Hireling, simply post in the thread already created. Once three Faceless have given them their penjaden, the Hireling will be ready to take the blood. Only three different Faceless may give a single Hireling their Penjaden, as three Penjaden form the Tripex, or lower triangle, of the Pentatrine.||
